Building a Branded Virtual Slot Machine for Oliver’s Market

Oliver’s Market wanted an engaging way to award raffle tickets during its employee appreciation party. I created a fully functional virtual slot machine tailored specifically to the company, combining custom artwork, sound design, and probability-based game logic in a browser-based experience.

Try the Slot Machine

Spin the reels to experience a playable version of the custom game created for Oliver’s Market. Turn on your sound to experience the complete interaction.

Portfolio Demo

Every spin wins at least 5 tickets. Reels stop one by one, and matching icons anywhere upgrade the prize.

The Prompt

Create an interactive slot machine that employees could play to win raffle tickets during the company’s employee appreciation party. The experience needed to be easy to understand, visually connected to Oliver’s Market, and capable of awarding prizes across several different tiers.

What Had to Be Solved

The game needed to feel like more than a generic slot-machine template. Its visual and audio elements had to reflect the company while still giving players the familiar experience of spinning reels, matching symbols, and discovering what they had won.

Behind the experience, the game also needed a structured prize system. Six raffle-ticket tiers would be available, each with its own winning combination and probability. Higher-value awards would appear less frequently, while lower tiers would provide more common wins.

The Approach

I built the slot machine as a custom HTML page that could run directly in a web browser. The visual assets included original reel symbols inspired by Oliver’s Market and imagery associated with the company.

I also incorporated custom sound effects to reinforce key actions and make each spin feel more responsive and engaging. The game logic used weighted probabilities to control how frequently each of the six prize tiers appeared.

To help employees understand the available prizes, I created a series of on-screen cards displaying each winning symbol combination, its raffle-ticket award, and the odds of receiving it.

What I Built

The complete experience included:

  • A functional five-reel virtual slot machine

  • Custom Oliver’s Market-inspired symbols and graphics

  • Sound effects tied to spins, results, and other actions

  • Six raffle-ticket prize tiers

  • Weighted odds based on the value of each award

  • On-screen prize cards showing winning combinations and probabilities

  • A browser-based format that could be operated without specialized software

The Result

The finished game transformed raffle-ticket distribution into an interactive, branded experience created specifically for the employee appreciation event. Rather than simply using a prize wheel to distribute tickets, Oliver’s Market could make the process part of the entertainment.

The project brought together graphic design, audio, browser-based development, and probability-driven game logic to turn a straightforward event need into a memorable employee activity.
